Duties Summary
This position is located in the Fort Yates Indian Health Service Hospital at Fort Yates, ND in the Great Plains Area. The purpose of this position is to provide professional emergency room nursing care to patients in a general hospital and ambulatory care setting. This position requires licensure as a registered nurse and experience as stated in OPM regulations. Incumbent may be required to work rotational shifts, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

Perform specialized, professional nursing duties in the case of critically ill, severely injured and/or traumatized emergency patients. Assess and triage.
Administers medications utilized in the emergency room setting and observe patients for adverse and expected efforts and respond appropriately or notifies physician.
Interpret data obtained from observation, examination and monitoring.
Operate and monitor specialized equipment. Provide supervision and training to ambulance service and assist with certification requirements.

Due to this requirement, the agency must ensure that persons hired for these positions have not been found guilty of or pleaded nolo contendere or guilty to certain crimes.

Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957. Seasonal Influenza immunization is required for civilian health care facility staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities.

Position is subjected to rotating shifts, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
